Mary Bright releases new single 'Dance in the Dark'

The singer and dancer known as Mary Bright has released her debut dance single, “Dance in the Dark.” The track has been produced by Anthony Holt and published on the Script Records independent music label. Uplifting, vivacious and full of joie de vivre, “Dance in the Dark” by Mary Bright is an electronica single that brings the verve and heat of dancing out of the clubs and into the night.

Mary Bright cites as main inspirations a wide variety of music from a broad spectrum of artists.

“I listen to music everywhere,” she writes, “and my play list is extremely various. I like to dance with music by Selena Gomez, and also I love the music of Ariana Grande.”

Her own debut single, “Dance in the Dark,” is a track with highly danceable, bass-bumping electronic instrumentation and lovely, lilting female vocals provided by Bright, herself. It is infused with the best elements of traditional house music while remaining cutting-edge and fresh to the ear. It is highly suited for public playing by DJs anywhere in the world.

Speaking of the theme of her new song, Mary Bright writes, “This song reminds me of my feelings about dance. It reminds me about what dancing means for any dancer, what sensations you experience, what emotions you feel in the moment.”

Her new song isn't simply a celebration of dancing, however. It is also an invitation to let the sound and motion heal us – all of us.

“Sometimes,” she writes, “we are all alone, and if there is no one who can support you when you are happy or sad, let the music support you! Anyone can be a dancer, anyone can be happy. Just press 'Play', turn off the light, and let yourself be free!”

Taylor James releases new LP 'Olde School'

The singer, songwriter, and newly returned artist of R 'n' B and soul known as Taylor James has released his latest LP record album, “Olde School.” The LP is comprised of eight original James tracks for an approximate total listening time of 40 minutes. Like the rest of his contemporary rhythm and blues, “Olde School” has been published on the Hearts of Gold Music independent record label. Carved out of the synth-powered, popular rhythm 'n' blues style of the late '70s and early '80s, “Olde School” by Taylor James is easily one of the best R 'n' B albums to be released in decades.

Asked to describe the themes and motifs of his LP, Taylor James writes three simple words in reply: “Love, peace and happiness.” Common subjects of his music on the record span from tender romance to the action of a weekend nightclub in a modern city, and his music styles are likewise varied to feature a gamut of tones, moods and emotions.

“Olde School” by Taylor James is an album to be played in virtually any listening circumstance. Featuring crystal-clear vocals and harmonies which are easily superior to the broad majority of what is commonly played on popular public radio stations today, James' record stands as a reminder of the very high standards musicians, listeners, and the music industry in general used to have. It takes ten seconds of listening to hear that Taylor James has assembled a clutch of songs on par with the very best records in one's collection.

Taylor James (born James Albert Taylor) cites as main artistic influences James Brown and Quincy Jones. Born in 1953 in Vicksburg, MS, he is a graduate of Jackson State University with a degree in music and a minor in recording engineering. He has been writing, recording and producing music since the age of 17. James served as drummer and lead vocalist for Wynd Chymes, whose two LP albums are still in circulation online. His own first album, “No Way Out” appeared on the Great Southern Productions (GSP) music label in 1984. He wrote and produced music under GSP from 1976-1990, after which time he built his own studio and recorded such popular artists as Willie Clayton, Bobby Rush, the William Brothers and the Canton Spirituals.

“Olde School” is a flagship portion of several tracks to be released from Taylor in late 2014, including such other titles as “Good News,” “A Taylormade Christmas,” and “Say It's Me / Living for You.” Each title has been produced and published by the Hearts of Gold music label.

Taylor James releases instrumental version of new single 'Good News'

R 'n' B and soul artist Taylor James has released an instrumental version of his latest single, “Good News.” Like the original version, it has been proudly published on the Hearts of Gold Music independent record label support from the corporate music power structure. Likewise brimming with elements of funk, soul, gospel and rhythm 'n' blues, James' “Good News” instrumental brings together the best of the four styles of music for a rolling, jamming, grooving good time.

Taylor James (born James Albert Taylor) cites as main artistic influences Godfather of Soul James Brown and famous producer Quincy Jones. The core components of each of these are prominently featured in his “Good News” instrumental, and fans of R 'n' B, funk, and soul are sure to be equally enthusiastic for the return of good pop music upon first hearing the track.

The Hearts of Gold Music label have seen to it that James' track features truly ingenious, spotlessly clean studio production. This, combined with naturally flowing songwriting and picture-perfect instrumentation, ensure that James' “Good News” instrumental is a stunning listen from start to finish in an entirely different way from the original standard edit.

Taylor James was born in 1953 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He is a graduate of Jackson State University with a degree in music and a minor in recording engineering. He has been writing, recording and producing music since the age of 17. James served as drummer and lead vocalist for Wynd Chymes, whose two LP albums are still in circulation online. He wrote and produced music under GSP from 1976-1990, after which time he built his own studio and recorded such popular artists as Willie Clayton, Bobby Rush, the William Brothers and the Canton Spirituals.

“Good News” and its accompanying instrumental version are the most significant releases from Taylor James in recent years. They have been published concurrently with an official, high-gloss music video, also. Taylor James releases new single 'Good News'

The singer and songwriter of contemporary R 'n' B and soul known as Taylor James has released his latest single, “Good News.” It has been proudly published on the Hearts of Gold Music independent record label, entirely without financial or managerial support from the corporate music entities. Infused with elements of funk, soul, gospel and rhythm 'n' blues, “Good News” is a glorious modern iteration of the Motown sound as well as an upbeat musical push for better social values.

Taylor James (born James Albert Taylor) cites as main artistic influences Godfather of Soul James Brown and mastermind music mogul Quincy Jones. Taylor James' own sound and style on “Good News” possesses many of the most important qualities of these. Perhaps most prominently, it exhibits the unstoppable funk and groove of James Brown, but also the razor-sharp songwriting and studio production of Quincy Jones. Lush, danceable and highly textured, “Good News” is easily one of the most powerful singles of 2014 to seamlessly blend no fewer than three genres of music, and indeed probably more.

Taylor James was born in 1953 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He is a graduate of Jackson State University with a degree in music and a minor in recording engineering. Welsh guitarist Dave Stephen releases new LP 'Taith'

The popular guitarist and songwriter from Wales known as Dave Stephen has released his latest LP record, “Taith.” It comprises 12 original tracks for an approximate total running time of 50 minutes, and has been published on the Bricsan independent music label. Founded on principles of folk, Celtic, and rock music with elements of other genres stirred in for good measure, “Taith” is the most recent example of the rich, contemporary musical culture of Wales, showcased here by Dave Stephen.

“Taith,” which is Welsh for 'Journey,' is an entirely instrumental collection of guitar duets with some added percussion. Joined here with longtime collaborator Gareth Moriarty, Dave Stephen showcases his guitar chops with a rare combination of modest, natural talent blended with consistently impressive, intriguingly complex chord progressions and songwriting. As fans have come to expect from music by Stephen and Moriarty, “Taith” is dazzlingly creative and colorful.

A simple glance at song titles elicits proof of this: “Moses Knows His...,” “Three Mind Lice,” and “Shoot Me I'll Shoot You Too” are some of the more prominent examples, though the depth of tonal and stylistic variety on the LP is the real treasure. A comparison of “Shoot Me...” and Track 2, “Deep Waters Flow” yields a sonic duality which is braided rather than at odds. This multifaceted nature of “Taith” makes it a sure thing for fans of nearly any genre, but especially for those who appreciate raw, brilliant songwriting, lush Celtic undertones, and arresting performances on guitar.

Stephen cites as main artistic inspirations for “Taith:” “Too many; from Miles Davis to Stravinsky, and from the Rolling Stones to Chet Atkins. Always with a Celtic flavour.”

Although itself being billed as a solo project, “Taith” is the third full-length release to feature Dave Stephen and Gareth Moriarty in late 2014, both of whom also play in the popular Stephen-led Welsh group, Amser. Amser's most recent releases include October's “Crochan” and November's “Amserau,” both of which also come to the world from the Bricsan label.

“Taith” by Dave Stephen is available online worldwide. Guitar fans and fans of highly creative instrumental music should absolutely get in early.

Music prodigy Sam Levin releases debut EP 'I'm in Here'

The 12-year-old singer and songwriter known as Sam Levin has released his debut EP album, “I'm in Here.” The album comprises five original and previously unreleased tracks for an approximate total listening time of 20 minutes, making for a satisfying introduction to this rapidly rising star from New York City. It has been published on the Clarence Productions independent music label. Upbeat, soulful, startlingly introspective and based on pure rock and roll principles, “I'm in Here” is an EP everyone should be paying attention to, and for several reasons.

“This year while I was writing and recording these songs I listened to a lot of Counting Crows, JJ Grey & Mofro, Galactic, and John Scofield,” writes Levin, whose new record has been anticipated by two singles, October 2012's “I Sure Hope Not,” and “Being With You Is Easy,” which appeared a year later.

Naturally, a great deal of change can be heard over the first two years of Levin's music career. His first single sounds not unlike a happier Jack Johnson, while “Being With You Is Easy” feels decidedly Beatles-esque. Now, having recorded a full five tracks over the last year, complete with backup vocals, layered harmonies, varied instrumentation and truly thought-provoking lyrics, it seems that Levin isn't just ready for the public eye and ear – he's already there.

“I saw an electric guitar hanging on the wall of a music shop when I was five years old,” he writes, “and knew that's what I wanted to do. And when I got a loop pedal, that's when things really changed. I started to compose music and I became a songwriter.”

Songwriting isn't the half of it, however. Listeners who expect music clearly written by a middle-school student will be utterly shocked at how engaging Levin's themes and artistic interests can be. “Look at Me,” for instance, is an aggressive castigation of social media showing a generation of people too fascinated with Twitter and Facebook, etc., who argue that they need online followers and subscribers because as Levin sarcastically puts it, “How else will I know I'm alive?”

Speaking of other topics he discusses on his record, Sam writes:

“Well, each song has its own message. 'I'm In Here' says that even though we all act or think differently from one another, deep down we are all just people with feelings who want the same things. I plan on donating the money I make from this song to a charity that helps children with autism.

“'On My Way to You' is about how life is full of stress and things we have to do and places we have to go, but there is always comfort in returning home.

“'Why Not' is about all of the awful things that powerful people do that hurt the planet and the people, just so they can have more money. It's obvious those things should change, but they don't, and I can't figure out why not.

“'Jam on A' is about finding something you love to do to get through hard times. For me that's playing music with my family and friends.”

Sam Levin writes, sings, and plays guitar, piano, bass guitar, saxophone, and drums and percussion. He performs pop, rock, jazz, blues, funk, and Latin music, and often blends these sounds for a result that approaches alternative. He studies music and music theory at the Lagond School in Elmsford, NY. When not releasing official singles and records, Levin enjoys video and board games, makes short films, and reads fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, and Game Informer.

His artist's bio concludes with the amusing fact that he is “not really a big eater; he eats because he has to.”

“I'm in Here” by Sam Levin is available online worldwide. Fans of musical genius everywhere should get in early.

Jagger Spacy releases new single 'Where'd You Go?'

The rapper and songwriter known as Jagger Spacy has released his latest pop single, “Where'd You Go?” The track has been published as an independent release entirely without support from the corporate music infrastructure. Melodic, heartfelt, and spat with razor-sharp accuracy and groove, “Where'd You Go?” is a masterpiece of urban pop from this up-and-coming talent from Arizona.

Jagger Spacy cites as main artistic influences only one artist, Eminem, holder of 13 Grammy Awards at the time of writing. Spacy's own style of rap on “Where'd You Go?” has certain qualities in common with Eminem's, such as witty and intelligent lyrics, clever rhyme schemes, and syncopated vocal rhythms which form the key strength of Spacy's music. His new single also features truly fantastic singing in each chorus, impeccable harmonies, and some of the most polished studio production to be heard anywhere.

Music by Jagger Spacy is also personal and autobiographical. Asked to describe how he came to begin performing music, he writes that, “It was a way I expressed my feelings, and dealt with life.”

His music isn't just written for himself, however. Through songs like “Where'd You Go?” Spacy aims to bring a little help to the public at large, too.

“I hope that people will relate to my music and that they will be inspired,” writes the rapper. “I hope it will show people that even though we deal with life challenges and struggles, we can get through it. Failure is key. I am just rebuilding what was broken.”

Jagger Spacy has been writing, performing and producing music since the age of 18, when the tracks he recorded using the GarageBand program convinced his parents that he should be recording in professional studios. As “Where'd You Go?” clearly demonstrates, they were absolutely correct.

“I always wanted to be in the music industry,” Spacy writes, “but it was something I kept to myself … The studio we ended up going to was called Tallcat Studios. We played my songs for them and they looked at me and said, 'You need to be doing this!' From that day until now it's been crazy. I now consider myself a rapper, but my mom says I'm more than a rapper, so whatever that means I'm going to go with it.”

It is the most widely distributed album to come from Kane to date and has been widely anticipated by his fans, which he proudly refers to as “my soldiers.” The album has been published on the SharkTown Records independent music label. Straight-up, hardcore gangsta rap from the heart of the American south, “Death Before Dishonor” is an old-school banger for fans of the G- sound whether young or old.

Prezident Kane cites as main artistic influences such personalities of the hip-hop scene as Master P., Tupac Shakur, the Screwed Up Click, UGK, South Park Mexican, and Do or Die. His own style is a legitimate part of the Dirty South mode of rap music, and has much in common with all related artists above.

In addition to the considerable talents of Prezident Kane, himself, his “Death Before Dishonor” LP also includes the skills of a broad spectrum of SharkTown Records friends and family. Such rappers and vocalists include Redrum, Lil Bing, Lyrikal, Merk Rock, Reality1, Hennessy, Killa, Cyr, Gina, and Pelon. Each featured artist, according to Kane himself, was given express freedom in writing his or her own lyrics for the respective tracks. The album also includes Latin Grammy Award nominee, Juan Gotti.

Speaking of the themes of his new record, Kane writes that the overall message of his new album revolves around “Real life in the streets in every hood in the world.”

Prezident Kane's official bio describes him as being from Corpus Christi, TX by way of Chula Vista. He became the young, founding CEO of SharkTown Records at the age of 14. He began his music career by writing poetry, then branching into rap music in 1996 when a friend asked him to rap over the phone so a girl could hear him.

“My homeboy called on three-way and told me to rap to this girl on the line,” writes Prezident Kane. “She said that she was really into it … From rapping to girls, I started rapping about our lifestyles in the street.”

SharkTown Records has been renowned for their efforts in charitable social work and have been showcased on national television for this reason.

“SharkTown Records made an appearance on ABC that broadcast a local affiliated station called K-III TV-3 News,” Kane relates. “They interviewed me because we were helping the S.O.S drive and giving out free haircuts for all the kids. Some children couldn't afford a fresh haircut on the first day of school, so we wanted to make a difference.”

This isn't the only way Prezident Kane and SharkTown lend a hand, either.

“With our programs, we are trying to give back by helping the children that are less fortunate,” Kane writes. “SharkTown Records proudly has two programs. Paul Best releases new world music LP 'No Boundarys'

The composer and instrumentalist of world music and kirtan known as Paul Best has released his latest LP record, “No Boundarys.” The album contains eight original tracks for an approximate total listening time of a full hour. It has been proudly published on the Yatte Yattah Beat independent music label, entirely without support from the corporate music industry. Meditative, creative, calming and inspiring, “No Boundarys” is a fulfilling listen for fans of New Age music, world music, and kirtan music alike.

Known at home and abroad for playing what is perhaps best described as world music, Paul Best cites as main artistic influences mostly rock, such as that of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the Cure, Radiohead, and Bob Dylan.

“I have always loved listening to music,” writes the musician, who has been playing for more than three decades. “My tastes have expanded over the years, taking in many styles of music.”

This penchant for mixing his interests and exploring new sonic territories is a key component of “No Boundarys,” as the title succinctly communicates. Best's new LP combines the traditional music styles of India with measured doses of electronic instrumentation and innovative, unorthodox techniques.

Speaking of this, Best writes, “This is an instrumental [record] that introduces sounds which most people have never heard, i.e. sitar, and sitar played with a bow – which turns it into a different instrument – combined with percussion and keyboard.”

“No Boundarys” is the latest addition to Paul Best's growing world-music and New-Age repertoire, which contains eight CDs and DVDs. At different points his music has contained elements of kirtan, reggae, pop, rock, jazz, and music for meditation. He has performed as lead instrumentalist accompanying most known instruments in the world, and continues to produce music and background scores for film.

Hailing from the New South Wales area of Australia, he has founded his own music studio where he provides a low-pressure, high-tech recording service to small bands, as well as facilitating the editing or transfer of old material (tapes, etc.) to new mediums (CD, .MP3, etc.) [link provided below].

Metal band Alone release new LP 'Why Do We Fall...'

The metal crew known as Alone have released their latest LP album, “Why Do We Fall...” The record contains 13 original tracks for an approximate total listening time approaching a full hour, making for a comprehensive and generous introduction to this innovative and imaginative band from Poland. It has been released on the Studio Alone independent record label. With warlike, hammering drums, chunky, thrashing and wailing guitars, and melodic vocals which are varied and arresting, “Why Do We Fall...” by Alone is an album to which fans of all kinds of metal should pay attention.

Alone cite as main artistic influences bands like Linkin Park, Rammstein, Slipknot, Korn, Disturbed, Red, and Bring Me the Horizon. Elements of each of these can be easily discerned in their style, which sounds less melodramatic than any of the above while retaining a degree of epic theatricality which forms a key characteristic of their mood and tone. Songs on “Why Do We Fall...” are written with plenty of texture and can differ from one another in surprising ways, each of them helping to build what results in a towering fortress of a metal record that Alone can stand on for years to come, though chances are fans can look forward to more music from these highly creative persons before long.

Asked to describe the overall message of their new record, Alone say little, choosing only to quote from what may be the most poignant and widely recognized line from the work of William Butler Yeats: “But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.”

Alone's official bio describes them as a rock-oriented band founded in 2006. Their music is a blend of rock, numetal, electronica and film scores. Coflo releases new EP 'Gazin'

The producer and composer of electronic music known as Coflo has released his latest EP album, “Gazin.” The extended-play record has been proudly published on the Catch the Ghost independent music label, which is also home to such popular up-and-coming artists as Tomahawk Bang and Noey Lopez. “Gazin” is composed of four tracks for an approximate total listening time of 30 minutes (the “Gazin” original version, plus three disparate remixes) making for a roundly satisfying and comprehensive introduction to Coflo's style. Mellow and sophisticated, excellent for dancing, background music, or night drives across town, “Gazin” by Coflo is reason to pay attention to this exciting new artist and recording label.

Coflo cites as main artistic influences Floating Points, Atjazz, Flako, Theo Parish, Moodyman, Tomahawk Bang, and DJ Cecil. While many similarities emerge when comparing “Gazin” to releases by these other considerable talents, Coflo's music is more subtle and reliant on sonic undercurrents than most EDM producers. His beats are solid and grooving, but not overt, and his bass is not the focal point of any one of the tracks. Coflo's instrumentation is carefully balanced and blended, marked by attributes of ambient music, and changes from track to track to produce entirely different feels without completely divorcing any one remix from its stylistic relation to the others.

Speaking of his impetus in composing electronic music, Coflo often talks more about dancing than he does composition.

“As a student of dance for the past two decades,” he writes, “music is fundamental in how I express myself.”

He describes his new EP in succinct and exact terms.

“'Gazin' is a journey through sound and syncopation. There are three very different mixes that provide a different sense of atmosphere, from a casual listen to a late-night dance floor.”

More than merely a dancer and music producer, Coflo busies himself with in-depth researches into the thoughts, theories and histories of dance. His official artist's bio states that “His respect extends to all of those who came before him and with great humility does his best to recreate the great lessons, thoughts and styles of the past … Creating something that is entirely new is all too difficult when we can probably benefit a lot more from respecting the past.”

La ' Vega releases new single 'Nappy'

The rapper and songwriter known as La ' Vega has released her latest hip-hop single, “Nappy.” The track has been released on the MVB Entertainment Music Group LLC independent record label, which features the talents of such artists as Deno Corneliani and Ali Moore. It is the most widely distributed official release from La ' Vega to date, and anticipates two forthcoming releases in December 2014, her “Tipsy” single and “Best of La ' Vega 2014” compilation, both anxiously awaited by fans of the rapper. Smooth, jazzy, and empowering to listeners of all walks of life, “Nappy” by La ' Vega is a sure sign that this MVB entertainer is here to stay.

La ' Vega, who hails from the Bronx borough of New York, cites as main artistic influences Nitty Scott MC and Nicki Minaj, both of whom also have roots in NYC, as well as fellow East-Coast rapper J. Cole. Her own music is much like a balanced blend of the styles these rappers boast, having a velvety, classy overtone and direct, audacious lyric style. The topics about which La ' Vega raps widely vary, but in “Nappy” she has a very simple moral.

“You're beautiful,” writes the rapper, “no matter what you look like.”

Born to Dominican parents, La ' Vega was raised on the rough streets of NYC where hip hop itself was born. Not unlike many Bronx youths, La ' Vega found herself at odds with life in the hard town, and began writing poetry to express her thoughts and feelings. This, coupled with her burning enthusiasm for hip-hop music and culture, led her to begin recording music of her own and sharpening her skills as a rap artist.

She was signed to MVB Ent. Music Group in 2013, and the following year found her in the sound studio for much of the time (some of which material will be made available on her upcoming “Best of La ' Vega 2014” comp.). Several music videos have also been made available on her official website, link provided below.

It has been proudly published as an independent release without financial or managerial support from the corporate music industry. Passionate, rocking, and founded on the words of Jesus Christ, “Liberata” by Lea Almazan is a spirit-filled album that any fan of Christian rock can get behind.

Lea Almazan, a singer from the musical hotbed of Orange County, CA, cites as main artistic influences such champions of Christian music as Jesus Culture, Hill Song, Andrae Crouch, and Tracy G. Her own style of music on “Liberata” stems as much from aggressive alternative rock as it does from the rock of ages, and is peppered throughout with soft rock, blues rock, and even a lilting guitar-based lullaby. Her vocals, first showcased as clarion and femininely powerful on her debut record, “Revelation,” remain the main attraction on “Liberata,” though the LP also features some of the most top-shelf lead guitar in the Christian music category and secular music industries alike.

Also prominently featured on her new LP is songwriting of the highest caliber. Lyrically, believers will find “Liberata” to be a source of succor, empowerment, truth, and heavenly praise. Musically, her compositions are varied, innovative, and exceptionally modern while retaining their foundation in the traditions of her faith.

Speaking of the themes of “Liberata,” (Latin for 'released' or 'free') Almazan writes that the messages of her new record are: “Be Set Free; Move Forward in Jesus Christ; Be Fearless, Courageous, Relentless and Contagious. He was and so Now you are!”

The following is taken from Lea Almazan's official bio.

“I love Jesus Christ. The Spirit that lives in us is the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. I write songs that build up and encourage the listener to keep faith active in their lives. The circumstance does not determine the outcome, but as we allow the Holy Spirit to be active in our lives, we will have a successful outcome. I love to connect with people and build relationships. There is power in numbers sticking together.

“God bless.”

Paul Brett Sage is the rock crew led by UK guitar legend, Paul Brett. Having played in sessions and various other capacities for titanic bands such as the Strawbs, Tintern Abbey, and Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera, Brett is renowned as one of the world's leading guitarists, and a person of considerable note where '60s and '70s psychedelic rock is concerned.

His current troupe, Paul Brett Sage, pick up with “Emergence” where they they left off with their last LP, 1972's “Schizophrenia.” While Sage's members have changed, their spirit remains just the same, and fans of earlier Brett material are certain to be enthusiastic about the beauty and power delivered by this remarkable and poignant record. Brett himself has described the sound as “a mix of acoustic and electric tapestries.”

Neither have Brett's rebellious, “hippie” principles been watered down for the modern era. On the contrary, his lyrical content seems more aggressive than ever, one of the record's most rewarding qualities.

Speaking of the themes around which “Emergence” revolves, Brett writes, “The songs featured on this album in the main reflect the sign of the times we live in. Many topical issues including fracking, corporate morons, banking devils, chattering media classes and a couple of tracks inspired by Edgar Allen Poe.”

In addition to the aforementioned groups, Paul Brett has played in sessions and gigs or toured with bands such as Mott the Hoople, Motorhead, Manfred Mann, Keith Ralph (Yardbirds), Steve Holley (Wings), Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jimi Hendrix, the Who, and a great many others. Gary Gould releases new single 'Maestro'

The bassist and songwriter known as Gary Gould has released his latest official single, “Maestro,” featuring Sahib Goldsmith. The track is a pop-styled adult contemporary song with R 'n' B roots and strong, smooth bass lines. It has been proudly published on the Double G Records LLC independent record label. Showcasing precise, jazz-tinged vocals and undeniably sparkling songwriting, “Maestro” by Gary Gould feat. Sahib Goldsmith is easy listening of the highest caliber.

Gary Gould is a veteran bass player with experience in several disparate genres. He cites as main artistic influences such virtuosos of bass guitar as Victor Wooten, Chuck Rainey, Richard Davis, and Milt Hinton. His own style of playing on “Maestro” is laid back and spacious, unpretentious and tastefully sonorous, with more attention paid to which notes are struck rather than how many of them at a time. Gould's mellow manner pares down his phrasing so that the bass actually takes the forefront of the instrumentation without sounding overbearing.

Filling in the gaps is the soft, classy crooning of Sahib Goldsmith. Goldsmith's singing is steeped in rhythm and blues and maintains a polished, grooving cadence throughout. His tone is earnest, and his pitch is spotlessly clean, making for a vocal performance which could hardly be bested. The heartfelt delivery of his singing lends much to the lyrical meaning of the song, which is at the core of its best qualities.

Speaking of these themes, Gould writes, “This song is dedicated to my Dad who passed several years ago. I wrote the music and Sahib Goldsmith conveyed what my Dad passed on to me, and how his memory lives on. It is dedicated to all who have lost a significant person in their life.”

The title of the song, too, is a reflection of this homage.

“I called my Dad 'Maestro' and he called me 'Maestro, Jr.,'” Gould writes.

Gary Gould has been playing with the LC Swing Big Band since 2007. He also collaborates with a funk and Latin jazz group, Ictus. His debut record, “Excursions,” was published in 2005. He has played gospel, funk, R&B, doo-wop, rock and jazz, and has performed in Canada as well as at various venues in the United States.

Vaughty releases new single 'One Way to Nowhere'

UK singer and songwriter Vaughty has released his latest single, “One Way to Nowhere.” It has been released on the Aggro Monkey Records independent label. The track comes on the heels of his January 2014 release, “Crash 'n Burn.” Both tracks, in addition to a series of singles going back to spring of 2013, are rumored to be building toward the release of a debut, avidly awaited and full-length Vaughty record, the drop date of which has not been officially announced. Delightfully dark without a hint of dreariness, “One Way to Nowhere” is likely to emerge as a fan favorite in coming months as Vaughty winds up to a triumphant fever pitch.

Vaughty has suggested as musical influences Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, and Tangerine Dream, but “Violator”-era Depeche Mode is chief among them in terms of tonal similarities. Vaughty's music differs in that his brand of electronic music feels much more live while remaining equally danceable, and often more so. In a genre populated by overzealous producers brought to the game by newly accessible home-studio software, Vaughty's knack for limiting instrumentation while evoking maximum emotion is a rare quality, one which sets him apart from his contemporaries and his inspirations alike.

True to form, “One Way to Nowhere” is colorfully decorated with his signature, old-school synth style, driven by relentless drum-and-bass and headed by vocals provided by the shadowy man, himself. Vaughty tracks currently available for public listening pair him with sultry, velvety female singing which gives his music a feminine dimension against his enigmatic, coolly crooning voice. Notably, “One Way to Nowhere” is the first official V single to feature him alone at the mic, and the power of his glowering undertones is as unmistakeable as a solitary tower silhouetted against a night horizon.

The night is an important motif in Vaughty's music, in fact, as is also the grittiness of urban living. “One Way to Nowhere” is the first of his singles to directly address these without also tying in romantic themes, however.

“'One Way to Nowhere' talks about how we as vulnerable human beings live and exist through the severities of city life,” the artist writes. “The city is both beautiful and scary at the same time. The pretty lights hide the menace which hides behind the hardships and realities of living in such a huge place.”

The single isn't just about the viciousness of bustling metropolises, though. It has at its core a purely humanist principle.

“City life corrupts and consumes us as human beings,” Vaughty writes. “People believe that they are right and that everyone else is wrong. Many persons know their way around the city better than they know themselves.”

Andrea Bauer releases new LP 'Cello Songs from Planet Earth'

The cello virtuoso and composer known as Andrea Bauer has released her latest LP record, “Cello Songs from Planet Earth.” It is her most significant official release since her prominent and popular 2001 full-length album, “Cello Songs for Silence.” It comprises nine original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 45 minutes. Warm, meditative, and thrumming with the sonic undercurrents of life, “Cello Songs from Planet Earth” is a collection of contemporary cello pieces for fans of imaginative classical music everywhere.

For her main artistic influences, Andrea Bauer cites J.S. Bach's romantic compositions for cello and the ambient music of Brian Eno. Imagining a balanced blend of their respective styles and tones closely approaches a likeness of her “Cello Songs from Planet Earth.” Additionally, Bauer's new record adds eastern instrumentation and spiritual themes for a more exotic and contemplative experience. This is not to imply that the album aims at complexity. On the contrary, minimalism is the founding principle which gives her considerable songwriting such subtle power and intriguing textures.

Andrea Bauer's official bio describes her music as oscillating “between rapt devotion, noble simplicity and atmospheric grandeur.” Her records seamlessly unify classical music, world music, and music intended for meditation, resulting in a rare amalgam which has made her a favorite among fans of chamber music and practitioners of yoga, alike. In addition to enthusiastic listeners of her cello, her debut release, “Cello Songs for Silence” garnered her a loyal and enthusiastic fan base in the spiritual, New Age, yoga and meditation subcultures.

Asked to comment on the messages her record may have in store for fans, Bauer first quotes the 13th-century Persian and Sufi poet, Rumi: “Let yourself be drawn by the stronger pull of that which you really love. It will not lead you astray!”

Pressed for more, she writes that her music encourages the listener to “Focus on the inner realms and richness of his or her being, which is source energy, and let love rule and transform his or her life.”

Andrea Bauer is a member of the globally respected Berlin Symphony Orchestra (Berliner Symphoniker). She has regularly performed at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall and embarked on tour worldwide. Her “Song for Eli” is the only featured music in Asghar Farhadi's multi-award-winning film, “About Elly” (Silver Bear at the 2009 Berlinale, 1st Prize at the Tribeca Film Festival, and more). Bauer has also collaborated with Michael Hoppe (former head of A&R for PolyGram who signed New Age acts such as Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre and Kitaro, and who re-signed ABBA and the Who). She worked with Hoppe on the Grammy-nominated album “Solace” as a solo artist.

Mo Beatz releases new single 'Black Devils'

The producer of hip hop known as Mo Beatz has released his latest single, “Black Devils.” The track is the followup official single to his 2013 LP record, “Mo Better Beatz than Blues.” Both have been proudly published on the Mo Better Beatz independent record label. Shadowy, crisp and bearing a razor-sharp edge, “Black Devils” by Mo Beatz is evidence that this Nigerian-born hip-hop artist is here to stay.

Mo Beatz cites as main artistic influences such titanic names as Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, John Lennon, Pete Rock, and J. Dilla. His own style on “Black Devils” takes cues from the early '90s hip-hop tracks, many of the best of which which used sparse, deep beats and minimalistic loops, often with eerie melody lines to create a subtly nightmarish ambiance. This atmosphere is thick in “Black Devils,” and Mo Beatz uses it expertly to provide a rolling groove that pulses like a beating heart and pours from stereo speakers like running water.

Producer Mo Beatz describes his latest track in no uncertain terms.

“'Black Devils,'” he writes, “is a dark and bass-heavy track that you can ride to in the car, and also hear bounce from wall to wall through the speakers as deejays blast it in the clubs.”

Mo Beatz cut his teeth in the hip-hop scene of the 1990s, but soon grew tired of working with other producers and began working in the studio himself. In not much time, his beats were in high demand for up-and-coming singers and rap artists. This, also, would come to an end.

“However,” his official artist's bio relates, “due to the lack of freedom, airplay, respect for the underground artists and their creativity, and the constant changes in the music industry, Mo Beatz decided to take a break from music and went on a little hiatus. During this time,he would listen to some of his favorite music and got inspired from instrumental albums by such artists as J. Dilla and Madlib.”

It was this deep appreciation he felt for these talented performers which sparked his renewed vigor as a musician in his own right. Nevertheless, his perspective had permanently altered. He would become an instrumental artist and composer, rather than merely a producer.

“I love making music,” he writes. “It's a passion of mine. The money is secondary, but the joy of making a song and having somebody else feel it is priceless. That's the validation.”

Rhondavision and the 11th Hour Orchestra release new self-titled LP

The alt- rock band known as Rhondavision and the 11th Hour Orchestra have released their anxiously awaited, definitive full-length record, “Rhondavision and the 11th Hour Orchestra.” The LP comprises 11 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of just over half an hour. It has been produced and published on the Cabinwood Studios independent record label. Eclectic, shadowy, and full of dark ambiance, “Rhondavision and the 11th Hour Orchestra” is a multifaceted dreamscape of sound to entertain fans of virtually any genre.

The Rhondavision and the 11th Hour Orchestra experience is a highly theatrical one. Colorful, imaginative and devilishly fun, it draws upon narrative and a broad spread of musical styles to intrigue and mystify the listener. Much of this dramatic overtone comes from their cited artistic influences, which include such composers of film scores as Paul Williams (“Phantom of the Paradise”), Peter Thomas (“Raumpatrouille”), and John Barry (James Bond). They also cite as inspirations the theatrical approach of David Bowie, the commanding power of Shirley Bassey, and the quasi-electronic instrumentation of Devo. Imagining a blend of these approximates the general panache and mode of Rhondavision fairly well.

Expanding on their founding ideas and their new record, Rhondavision and the 11th Hour Orchestra write, “Our musical objective is to create a feeling of mystery and intrigue while enforcing an up-tempo rhythm with visually rich lyrics. With this collection, we set out to produce a series of independently epic theme songs, reminiscent of rock-opera adventures from the past. Reoccurring themes include alien abduction, time travel and the afterlife.”

Rhondavision and the 11th Hour Orchestra are a duo with an unusual history. The following is an excerpt from their official bio:

“While on location to direct a TV pilot in Hollywood at the famous Radio Records studio, TH3 (Thomas Hurley III) and Rhondavision (Rhonda Selesnow) met on the new set of the 'Count Smokula Show.' Here, the two produced a satirical music sketch with LA's favorite cable-access vampire clown, Count Smokula. The TV pilot fizzled, but the shoot did not fail, as it launched a six-year artistic collaboration between TH3 and his new magical muse, Rhondavision. The duo would continue to develop numerous future endeavors including music videos, new cable access shows, theatrical plays and now, their full-length rock album.”

Rhondavision's official music video for “Hex,” Track Two on their self-titled LP, has also been released.

Sonus Mortis releases debut album 'Propaganda Dream Sequence'

The artist known as Sonus Mortis has released his debut LP album, “Propaganda Dream Sequence.” The record includes 11 original songs and two bonus tracks for an approximate total listening time of one hour and 10 minutes. It has been proudly published as an independent release entirely without support from the corporate music industry. Soaring, chilling, and titanic in the enormity of its sound, “Propaganda Dream Sequence” by Sonus Mortis is an arresting reminder of how gorgeously violent metal music can be.

The official Web page for Sonus Mortis describes his sound as “symphonic, dark, death metal from Ireland.” He cites as main artistic influences such staples of the scene as Anathema, Septic Flesh, Fear Factory, and Katatonia (et al.). Additionally, his anthemic compositions, darkly lush orchestration, and wall-of-sound studio production recall legends of experimental metal such as Neurosis, Cult of Luna, and Rosetta.

Roaring waves of guitars are layered in “Propaganda Dream Sequence” like many strata of earth. These are mixed with phantasmic elements of electronica which are interwoven in such a way as to make picking them out as individual components unlikely. Vocals are cavernous and threatening. All in all, Sonus Mortis' debut record is gigantic in every imaginable way. It even concludes with a dark-metal homage to Toto's epic theme for David Lynch's “Dune.”

For fans of lyrical ingenuity, too, Sonus Mortis' “Propaganda Dream Sequence” has more than enough to sink one's teeth into.

Speaking of the themes of his debut record, Sonus Mortis writes, “The album 'Propaganda Dream Sequence' is a concept album. The album explores a futuristic dystopia where government controls every aspect of peoples lives. Apathy is strife; there is no enjoyment/emotion in the process of life anymore. Governments have installed machines where they inject propaganda into peoples dreams. The narrator from the start of the album realizes this, struggling with coming to terms with it all but starts to recode the machines to bring other people to this realization. Topics like religion, apathy, privacy, government control, censorship, and death are all linked into this story.”

Sonus Mortis is the professional name of Kevin Byrne, previously of Valediction (2007-2011). He has supported bands such as Amon Amarth, Firewind, Blaze Bayley and Diamond Head. He formed Sonus Mortis in 2013.

Ivan Pratt releases new single 'Tomahawk' ft. GrizzlyHawk

The rapper, songwriter and producer of hip hop known as Ivan Pratt has released his latest single, “Tomahawk,” featuring GrizzlyHawk. The track has been proudly released on the Hands on Ent. independent record label entirely without support from the corporate music industry. Suave, classy and founded on solid, bass-driven back beats, “Tomahawk” by Ivan Pratt and featuring GrizzlyHawk is one of the most intriguing hip-hop tracks to appear in recent months.

Ivan Pratt cites as main artistic inspirations such popular staples of the hip-hop underground as Eminem, Andre 3000, Kid Cudi, and Kanye West. His own style, here merged with that of GrizzlyHawk, evinces the influence of Eminem in terms of clever wordplay. Pratt's affinity for the work of Andre 3000 (previously of OutKast) surfaces in his singing à la rhythm and blues over well-paired rap music. The quality of the songwriting on “Tomahawk” is undeniable, and the track's sharp production polishes Pratt's already-spotless performance alongside GrizzlyHawk to an even-higher shine.

Speaking of his start in music, Pratt writes, “All I did was listen to music when I was younger, and I always wanted to become a musician. So, one day I was lifting weights in my basement and an instrumental came on from Lil' Wayne, and I started writing and never looked back.”

Ivan Pratt and GrizzlyHawk hail from Baltimore, MD. Pratt has been writing music since the age of 16, but began performing in earnest in 2007 following an injury which caused him to reconsider his emphasis on playing football as a career.

“For awhile,” he writes in his official bio, “I had no plan and thought I would just have a regular day-to-day life just existing on earth with no main purpose, but then I found music. I started to write music but didn't know how to actually record it, so I studied other artist's melodies and flows until I found my own.

Pratt's artistic aim is greater than just to make a name for himself, too. Rather, he plans to put Baltimore on the music map for newly respectable reasons.

He writes of this, “[I want to] create musical art that can change the world and history, change the way people view music artists from Baltimore as all just being rappers about violence and drugs. I want to speak a message that people can understand – not just people in poverty or millionaires, but a message that can connect the world.”

The Lift release new LP 'Lucidum Intervallum'

The Slovenian rock band known as the Lift have released their latest LP record, “Lucidum Intervallum.” The record comprises seven original tracks for an approximate total listening time of one full hour, making for a roundly comprehensive introduction to this remarkable band from southern Central Europe. It has been released on the Quatro Amigos Rec. label. Psychedelic, melodic, and crammed with imagination and groove, “Lucidum Intervallum” by the Lift is easily the most spectacularly colorful rock experience of late 2014.

The Lift (often stylized theLiFT) cite as main artistic influences artists from the classic rock era as well as those from contemporary circles. They list them as stretching, “from J. Smith's organs through the Doors and Mad Season, Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, At the Drive-In, UNKLE, Rapture, Floating Points, Zappa, Kraftwerk, Ekatarina Velika, Ez3kiel, Zenzile.”

From this spread, it is impossible to get a proper image of what the Lift, themselves, bring to the turntable, but their sound can be likened to a Jim Morrison project crossed with the sharper edge of Queens of the Stone Age, and with complex, instrumental songwriting not unlike that of At the Drive In. While their alt- rock roots present a full, textured and heavy sound which would be enough to make the Lift a band to follow, it is their surprising and effective use of a '60s-era keyboard sound (think Vox Continental or Hammond B-3) which characterizes their unique tone. This blend is aggressive, explosive, rich, widely varied and intellectually satisfying. It is infused with the power of post-punk music and ornamented with all the trappings of '70s psychedelia.

Speaking of the themes of their record, the Lift answer in no uncertain terms: “Feel and follow.”

“Lucidum Intervallum” is the second album by the Lift, and the most widely distributed to date. Their official bio describes them as having been formed by singer/guitarist Enej Roseman and drummer Uroš Kovač in Krško, Slovenia in 2004. Jakob Gašpir, keyboardist, would join in 2005. Their first live appearance took place in Pordenone, Italy, following which they would be invited to the Klubski Maraton caravan by Radio Student 89.3 FM in 2005. Since that time they have performed in Slovenia, England, Wales, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Croatia, Switzerland, and Austria.
