Music artists the W91 release new vintage-toned single 'Paysage'

The musicians of vintage-toned, French contemporary pop known as the W91 have released their second single, “Paysage.” The track is the second teaser single to be released from their upcoming full-length album, “Memories from '900.” Both nostalgic and timeless, reaching out to people who lived through some of the most evocative events of the twentieth century, “Paysage” from the W91 is already climbing music charts worldwide.

The W91 are a European duo, songwriter/instrumentalist Massimo and lead chanteuse Jacqueline. Massimo cites as music inspirations such artists as De Andrè, Leonard Cohen, Dire Straits, J.S Bach, J. Du Prè, and poets Charles Baudelaire and Walt Whitman.

Music aficionados will liken W91 songs like “Paysage” to French pop of the 1960s by legends like Astrud Gilberto, Francoise Hardy, and Serge Gainsbourg. These comparisons are absolutely justified in terms of instrumentation, lyrical poetry and an emphasis on striking, arresting vocals. Fans may also hear similarities between the W91 and modern French groups like Air, and Phoenix.

Asked to describe the themes of “Paysage” (“Landscape” in English) Massimo discusses the larger picture of which “Paysage” is just a part.

“'Memories from '900' is a collection of 11 short stories,” he writes of their upcoming W91 album. “These try to remember and make a point about what happened in the last century: from World War I through World War II – D-Day, the Holocaust – to the memories of the last veterans still alive today, leaving to one of the greatest poets of all time, Charles Baudelaire, the task of carrying on our hope, both opening and closing the album.”

This closing is “Paysage.” The lyrics to “Paysage” are directly from Baudelaire, whose poetry is often considered the best ever to come from France.

“Paysage” was mastered by Simon Heyworth and Andy Miles at Superaudiomastering.com (Goldfrapp, Simple Minds, King Crimson, Mike Oldfield).

The first W91 single, “The Sun Still Shines,” has been steadily moving up the pop charts from an initial position of 23,000 to 294 across all digital releases and as high as 147 globally in the pop category alone.

“Paysage” by the W91 is available online worldwide. Get in early, fans of great music everywhere. Very early.

UK electronica crew H2SO4 releases new LP 'Under Control'

The masterminds of electronic dance music known as H2SO4 have released their new full-length album, “Under Control.” The record contains 11 original songs straight from the UK's digital dance music underground for a blend of electronica, techno and rock that explodes from subwoofers with a power that hasn't been heard since the industrial music scene. It has been released on the S16 independent music label. With elements of rock, punk, house, and much, much more, “Under Control” from H2SO4 has aggression, verve and soul in spades.

H2SO4 have been called “a band for the new dystopia,” their sound “post-apocalyptic.” A favorite rumor among fans once circulated that the trio met at a secret meeting for TNWOR, the New World Order Resistance. An old official bio from the band closes with the descriptive declaration: “In times of mass unemployment, ineffective policing and MPs' deciding to give themselves pay rises, H2SO4 aren’t here to simply distract or entertain; they’re here to take over.”

If this sounds severe, the truth is that the H2SO4's music sounds precisely so, but their revolution is much more danceable than one might detect from the above mission statement. Loaded with socially conscientious lyrics yet speaking often tongue-in-cheek, the group originally from Kent make it amusingly difficult to know when they're being facetious.

One description of their sound reads, “If there were ever an underground party taking place in the sewers of Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, H2SO4 would be the headliners – kicking off a musical rebellion while Winston Smith were having a not-so-nice time upstairs, peppered with sounds of totalitarian sirens and alarms.”

This is essentially the H2SO4 experience in a word, and the experience is good. H2SO4 being the chemical formula for sulfuric acid (historically known as oil of vitriol and as a chemical symbol of creativity) the band's music has been elsewhere described as “burning you so smoothly you may not be aware it's happening.”

True veterans of the UK underground, H2SO4 released their first official single in spring of 1998 when the European electronica scene was whirring at breakneck speeds. The track, “Little Soul,” was an instant radio favorite and by the year 2000 had broached international television. The limited release of the song led to its becoming a much sought after collector's item.

The debut album of H2SO4, “Machine-Turned Blues,” hit shelves in 1999 on the Recon music label. Its “Imitation Leather Jacket” single burned through DJ playlists all over England and received more than a thousand plays on American radio. The Gavin Alternative Juke Box Jury awarded it their No.1 position. This was followed by their sophomore record, the year 2000's “Glamtronica.” Numerous live performances commenced at home including a steady spot at Glastonbury, as well as in faraway locales like Chicago, Canada, and many more.

“Under Control” by H2SO4 is available online worldwide. Electronica fans should get in early on this one. Very early.

Tanzanian reggae hit 'Hoi Hoi' by Layla goes global

The singer and songwriter of pop music known as Layla the Voice Fairy has released her debut single, “Hoi Hoi.” The reggae track dropped in Layla's home country of Tanzania early November, where it was greeted with widespread critical and fan acclaim. It became available to the rest of the world online December 11. It has been released on the Mukibiaka International independent music label. Summery, uplifting, and full of the warm-hearted East African spirit, “Hoi Hoi” brings a beat that gets everyone dancing.

Layla (often stylized LAYLA) cites as main artistic influences Taylor Swift, Meghan Trainor, and Arianna Grande, as well as fellow Tanzanian singer Vanessa Mdee. Her own style takes the infectious groove and overall presentation of these great artists and adds to it the crystalline, natural vocals for which Layla herself has been called the Voice Fairy. Her songs are happier and more youthful than music by the above, but just as danceable, making songs like “Hoi Hoi” popular both in Africa and beyond.

“Hoi Hoi” and other songs by Layla are sung mainly in Swahili with phrases in English braided in. The phrase 'hoi hoi,' itself, has romantic themes at its heart.

Layla writes of this, “The whole meaning of the song, 'Hoi Hoi,' is I am in love with a person who is already in a relationship with someone else, and they love each other, but still it does not stop me from letting the person know despite the fact it might mean nothing to him. I still want him to know.”

She goes on to relate that the tale is not autobiographical.

“[It] is not really based on my true life story, but what inspired me to sing such a song is that the situation is common to everyday life, and I wanted my song to mean something to listeners.”

Layla's music is well known for meaning something to her listeners, in fact. Her most prominent songs previous to “Hoi Hoi” were released under her Voice Fairy name and bear the distinction of being presidential campaign songs. They are “Hapa Kazi Tu” and “Tanzania Ringa.” Both remain available for listening online.

Layla the Voice Fairy dreams of singing with such artists as Nigerian singer Koredebello, American sensation Taylor Swift, Brandon “B” Howard, and many more. She is a singer for whom dreams are an integral part of her music.

She writes of this, “Dreams are valid. All it takes is trying, and who knows? It just might be your lucky day. Always believe in yourself.”

As anyone who has heard “Hoi Hoi” can tell you, Layla is a singer with much conviction.

“I want my music to be loved internationally,” she writes. “So sing my breath out, I shall.”

“Hoi Hoi” by Layla the Voice Fairy is available online worldwide. An official video for “Hoi Hoi” is also expected.

UK electronica artist Vaughty releases debut LP 'Love and Industry'

The long-awaited debut LP album from electronica artist Vaughty has finally arrived. Appropriately titled “Love and Industry,” the electropop record sports 40 minutes of Vaughty music almost entirely comprised of prominent singles, each having fans all their own. It comes from the Aggro Monkey Records independent music label. Shadowy, passionate, sharp as razors and bringing the synth sound in ways not realized since bands like Depeche Mode, New Order and Erasure, “Love and Industry” by Vaughty is an honest-to-God reason to celebrate for fans of electronic music everywhere.

Fans of Vaughty since his earliest hit single, “Warm Inside,” have been anxiously waiting to hear what a full-length “V” record might sound like for about three years. While his fan base could be excused for simply wanting more of that early Vaughty sound, the truth is that “Love and Industry” has much more scope than this. Expect a steady influx of V's trademark bass and backbeats bedecked with unstoppable synth melodies, yes. Expect haunting chord progressions and irresistible hooks, yes. But expect more.

Vaughty's dark and foreboding vocal style appears in a variety of incarnations, including a pared-down version of himself on “Cold” that is largely unaltered by effects, resulting in one of his more intimate performances. The record also contains a complete instrumental track, “Neon Views,” which stands as proof that V doesn't need lyrics to make a moving and evocative song. His natural talents as a composer of danceable electronica and postmodern pop music speak for themselves. At 4:30 long, the listener is shocked to find the instrumental ended after what feels like a mere moment spinning in time.

“Love and Industry” has lyrical clout, too. His “One Way to Nowhere,” which after a haunting intro track opens the record proper, is a cold rebuke of the same futuristic urban lifestyle and atmosphere so many of us call home, the same bleak yet awe-inspiring technotropolis that characterizes so much of the LP's sonic ghost. Many of his tracks have romantic inspirations. Uncaring city streets and roads in general are also recurring themes. Vaughty's first full-length is full of poetry bespeaking the pains and loves of the new millennium.

Additionally, Vaughty's LP boasts excellent guest vocals by Kairit Saaremael and longtime collaborator Jenny Palmer. It closes with a titanic cover of “Endless Road” by the oft overlooked Dutch synthpop group, Time Bandits, originally penned by Alides Hidding and included with the singer's personal blessing.

At its heart, however, Vaughty's “Love and Industry” is a dance record that belongs in the repertoire of nightclub DJs everywhere, one which will surely inspire plenty of “Who is this? What song was that?” Audiophiles much more at home between their earbuds will likewise be enthusiastic to go around town with the LP as their personal soundtrack. A limited edition vinyl has been rumored, also.

In short, “Love and Industry” is an electropop wonder every fan of the synth sound needs to experience. Every track seems over too soon, every track lingers in the mind long after having been heard. Every listen through justifies another press of the 'repeat' button, just as Track 8 puts it: “Once Is Not Enough.”

“Love and Industry” by Vaughty is available worldwide now. Get in early, lovers of sound, of loud music on night drives through towering cityscapes under the blue of streetlamps. It's Vaughty Day.

Sin Leche releases new dance single 'Cielo Azul'

The artist of Latin pop known as Sin Leche has released his latest dance single, “Cielo Azul.” The new single is currently the most widely available material from Sin Leche, and also has the distinction of being the first Sin Leche single to be sung en español, making it their most significant debut on several levels. It has been proudly released on the American Values Latin independent record label without the direction or financial support of the corporate music industry.

Bringing plenty of ritmo Latino, rock 'n' roll and pop flavors, as well as healthy doses of social commentary, “Cielo Azul” is a prominent dance release for music fans everywhere at the end of 2015.

Sin Leche is a music project from the music producer known internationally as Septimus (usually stylized SEPTIMUS). His new “Cielo Azul,” or “Blue Sky” in English, blends many styles of music for a sound and tone that is indicative of the international roots from which Septimus and his music come.

Sin Leche originated in the Central American nation of Panama, then made a move to faraway New York before settling 1,800 miles away in Texas. With so much geography having passed under his shoes, it should come as no surprise that “Cielo Azul” doesn't sound like it came from one place or another. On the contrary, it sounds exceptionally Pan-American.

“This is a project of Latin pop music mostly with a rock flavor, but not limited to any one style of music,” Septimus writes.

With a steady back beat, lots of guitar and prominent vocals, “Cielo Azul” is a track well suited for play by nightclub DJs, private parties, headphones, and casual listening on car stereos. But it isn't all just about the music for Septimus.

American Values Latin writes of this, “Sin Leche was started by SEPTIMUS to release sociopolitical music in Spanish to help empower Latinos. It's a song about empowerment no matter who you are or what you do don't allow others to define or limit [for] you.”

Atelier-M releases 'Still and Quiet' LP album

Instrumental composer Atelier-M has released his third collection of original songs, “Still and Quiet.” The LP has been published independent of the influence of the corporate music industry. Containing fully 15 songs from Atelier-M never before heard, the colossal album brings fans new and old approximately 75 minutes of relaxing, ambient music, nearly twice the length of a traditional full-length album. This makes “Still and Quiet” the most comprehensive selection of Atelier-M music ever before published.

“Still and Quiet” is akin to Atelier-M's debut LP record, “Season,” with which the artist used his unique talent for crafting piano to describe the tones and colors of the changing seasons throughout the year. With his more ambitious “Still and Quiet” LP, which brings nearly half an hour's worth more music, Atelier-M paints sonic landscapes, scenes of nature and of peaceful life from a wide variety of perspectives.

The record has perhaps more thematic variety than either of his previous records, too, regardless of its additional length. This may be sensed from the titles of his songs, which bespeak the same gorgeous, effortless subtlety as Atelier-M's music, itself.

“Leaf,” “Winter Rain” and “Bamboo and Water” have a gentle, bucolic atmosphere that is a favorite inspiration of the artist. “Dreamy Encounter,” “Bossa Aoyama” and “Choc” are fine examples of the artist's adult-contemporary compositions. “Night Bridge,” “Sea in the Dark,” and “Holy Season” are especially narrative, evoking feelings of calm and attunement with the world.

Overall, Atelier-M's newest record communicates harmony and solace, halcyon, worry-free moments frozen in time, all of which is intimated through his music. “Still and Quiet” is perfectly titled, therefore, being a description of the pure stillness found in nature and in the hush of night. It is a highly thought-provoking, introspective work of musical art, and it can be enjoyed by fans of any music genre.

“Still and Quiet” by Atelier-M is available online worldwide beginning 27 November 2015. Don't be left out in the cold.

Millie releases new dance single 'What Do You See'

The singer, songwriter and music producer known as Millie has released her debut single as a solo performer, “What Do You See.” The track has been proudly published on the Taffe Music independent record label without the direction of the corporate music industry. It has been released concurrently with an official music video, available for viewing at the official Taffe Music website (link provided below) and comes in Radio Mix and Club Mix editions.

Pulsing, thumping, bumping with synth bass and bringing the house music tradition into 2016 with class and style, “What Do You See” is a sure sign that Millie is a name for DJs and music fans to watch in coming months.

The UK-based Millie cites as main artistic influences such iconic singers and songwriters as Maxwell, Diana Ross, Jennifer Holliday, Etta James, and Billie Holiday. Her own sound retains the clarity and precision of these artists while adding also the back beats and modern instrumentation that have made electronic dance music the most influential sound of the new millennium.

Speaking of the themes of her new “What Do You See” single, Millie writes, “I love to people watch and when they watch back, I always wonder what do they see? Do they see the same thing I see? So I decided to sing about it from my perspective.”

Millie describes her songwriting process as intuitive, rather than academic.

“I feel music,” she writes. “I have never learnt to play an instrument. I just go with the feel of the notes and if it feels good, then I create the sound and the words and the melody finds me.”

While Millie's “What Do You See” represents the artist's solo debut, it is preceded by her British “lover's rock” girl group, Simplicity, with whom she performed several original hits. She followed up on this success with an all-female American band, Flirtations.

“My driving ambition is to create music that connects deeply,” writes Millie, “to create sounds and melodies that are a bit strange or unique (is the word I love) which ultimately nourishes the starving soul.” She goes on to elucidate on her passion for newness in song: “I have a cavernous love of creating unconventional sounds and melodies, because for me music is powerful and healing. I believe I am a spiritual being who uses this medium to connect with others on an otherworldly plane.”

Millie's music is even more than this connection, however.

She writes of her music goals, “I want my music to touch the world, and the hearts and minds of everyone who hears my songs, because no matter how different we are, we are all the same where music is concerned. Even though the beats may differ, music is a universal language that needs expressions of love, loss, anger, hope, etc. This is how we purge ourselves of these and other emotions, and that is what connects us.”

“What Do You See” by Millie is available 4 December 2015 from Taffe Music.

Digital musician Atelier-M releases new album 'Techno Plus'

The composer and songwriter of digital music known as Atelier-M has released his latest LP record, “Techno Plus.” The full-length album contains 12 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of just over an hour, making for a round and comprehensive showcase of material from this fresh and intriguing digital music producer from Japan. Like Atelier-M’s other official releases, “Techno Plus” has been proudly published independent of support from the corporate music industry. Textured, kaleidoscopic, and boasting some of the most elegant melody lines ever to grace electronic music, “Techno Plus” from Atelier-M is a surprise treat for fans of great music everywhere at the close of 2015.

Audiophiles have much to enjoy in “Techno Plus.” The record has laid-back moments and upbeat moments, smooth, soothing tracks and tracks which absolutely must be danced to. It recalls at times the great digital DJs of the 1990s who pioneered the art of techno music, artists like the Orb, Saint Etienne, and the Future Sound of London. Like these respected musicians, “Techno Plus” has an altogether European sound which will endear it to longtime fans of the electronica genre.

Yet Atelier-M makes music with a modern edge that is all his own. Himself being an autodidact, Atelier-M's music has an effortless flow that feels natural and intuitive from one song to the next. An altogether warm and uplifting LP, “Techno Plus” is extremely well suited for play by professional DJs at nightclubs or house parties, and equally good listening for music fans in cars or in headphones alike.

Atelier-M is a solo music artist who specializes in composing instrumental works in his studio. A skilled multi-instrumentalist, he has spent his recent years focusing on the art of composition and studio recording. Atelier-M's “Techno Plus” is preceded by his recent worldwide debut full-length album, “Season,” a work of contemporary classical piano, released 13 November. Each record has a character and life all its own, and all are marvelous representations of the creativity and good taste this musician exhibits in every song he has publicly released thus far.

DJ Pad releases new LP 'Welcome Aboard'

The French DJ known around the world as DJ Pad has published his new full-length album, “Welcome Aboard.” Like Pad's previous releases, “Welcome Aboard” has been published independently on the 4000 Records label without the support of the corporate music industry. Also like earlier records from DJ Pad, “Welcome Aboard” boasts no fewer than 20 original titles for a grand total of over 100 minutes' worth of digital music, nearly three times the amount which denotes a full-length LP album.

A spectacularly creative EDM record with elements of house, deep house, post-trance, jungle, gabber, old-school techno and even a dash of rock 'n' roll, “Welcome Aboard” is perhaps the most inclusive and impressive album from Pad yet.

Since his first appearance on the global digital music stage in spring of 2014, DJ Pad has gained a reputation for being the most prolific composer of EDM currently producing music in France (perhaps in Europe overall and conceivably even across the entire world). With a rapidly growing repertoire that will almost certainly consist of more than 700 original songs by summer of 2016, “Welcome Aboard” is another milestone which proves that DJ Pad can create high-quality music at a rate far surpassing that of any other internationally known digital musician.

DJ Pad's albums change radically from one to the next, each having its own character and intended subgenre of electronic music. Pad has at one time or another cited as main musical inspirations such artists as ATB, Tiesto, Armin van Buren, Afrojack, Sebastian, Swedish House Mafia, Infected Mushrooms, Psycraft, Hallucinogen, Cosmic Gate, Atomic Cat, Angerfist, Hanz Zimmer, Mike Oldfield, and a great many more. He has been crafting his iconic brand of EDM since 2008 and shows no sign of slowing his remarkable creative pace.

The ability to write music across many categories is a rare talent. For DJ Pad, his musical skill extends even beyond digital music altogether, and in fact his creative roots are in traditional playing. He is an accomplished accordionist with nearly 20 years' experience.

A man of few words, DJ Pad has been quoted as saying he makes music to “share the craziness and the happiness of the songs’ beats, making listeners have a sudden urge to move their feet and forget all the worries of life.”

With more than 50 hours of music by DJ Pad since he began making digital music, the sonic world wouldn't be the same without him.

Pianist Roger Proctor releases new album 'Field'

The pianist and composer of solo contemporary classical music known internationally as Roger Proctor has released his new album, “Field.” The record contains 11 original instrumental songs for an approximate listening time of 25 minutes. It has been published as an independent release without the influence or support of the corporate music industry. Elegant, textured, and bearing a refreshing balance of melodic minimalism and tonal complexity, “Field” by Roger Proctor stands as a fine example of taste and excellence in modern classical piano.

UK-born Roger Proctor cites as personal favorites some of the world's most innovative and multifaceted composers, including Ludovico Einaudi, Yiruma, Philip Glass, Michael Nyman, and Hans Zimmer. Proctor's own “Field” album explores the expressiveness of his piano without additional tracks, synthetic sounds, or instrumentation, however the record shows the influence of these titans in terms of emotional range and creative diversity.

Fans of piano not yet acquainted with the work of Roger Proctor will be enthusiastic to hear his innate sense of timing and natural flow. While a great deal of this stems from his initial composition, the execution of each song on “Field” suggests an intuitive connection with his music that cannot be transcribed with pen and ink.

Asked to comment on the overall themes of his new album, Proctor writes that it is “inspired by the landscapes of the Chiltern Hills close to where I live. The music is also dedicated to my young family and two of the tracks are lullabies for them.”

Roger Proctor's “Field” is preceded by his 2012 debut release, “Summit,” which received much media attention and which Proctor also dedicated to his family and bucolic homeland. In addition to live performances by Proctor, music from “Summit” received public radio airtime on the BBC.

Proctor has performed at well-loved venues like London's world-famous Jazz Cafe, and at locales such as Lucerne, Liverpool, Manchester, Edinburgh, Strasbourg, Glasgow, and Oxford. His classical music training involves the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, music studies at Oxford University, and a focus on jazz piano at Goldsmiths University.

His work with the popular alternative-rock group, Holton's Opulent Oog, helped win the band great critical and fan acclaim for their 2008 LP, “The Problem of Knowledge” (9/10, New Musical Express) and for 2011's “Love in the Mist,” which was praised by widely circulated magazines like Uncut and Mojo.

Tru Born cites as main artistic influences many titans of the old school. These include Michael Jackson, Kid 'n Play, the Fat Boys, Run-D.M.C., and even members of his family. His new “Pain Hurts” single has a legitimate connection to the King of Pop, in fact, in the form of its featured vocalist, Ermaine. Ermaine Coleman's unmistakable singing can be heard in the choruses to “Pain Hurts,” as well as in background vocals she recorded for Mary J. Blige and studio session work she did for Michael Jackson, himself.

Tru Born's “Pain Hurts” is preceded by his “Lyrical Minded” single, published in 2013, and by an EP, “All Me,” which arrived in 2011. Both remain available at online music stores for listening and purchase today,

Asked to comment on the themes of his new “Pain Hurts” single, Tru Born writes that the song is “an expression of what we experience in today's world.”

The rapper got his most significant introduction to the hip-hop stage while performing with the underground rap crew, Black Army, circa 1996.

“I would like to thank everyone for their support and for believing in me,” writes Tru Born, “and thanks to Frank Perry Productions Music Publishing for making it happen for me.”

“Pain Hurts” by Tru Born feat. Ermaine is available online worldwide beginning 26 November 2015 (Thanksgiving Day, United States).

Rocker Cathy Richardson releases new single 'What I Am'

The rock singer known as Cathy Richardson has released her latest solo single, “What I Am.” The track is her most prominent solo release since 2006, an upbeat, catchy, incredibly empowering rock single with which fans of many music genres will identify and instantly love.

Richardson is perhaps best known for her work as front woman for Jefferson Starship, in which role she helped bring about the legendary band's first full-length record in over a decade, “Jefferson's Tree of Liberty,” in 2008. The year before saw Richardson singing lead for Janis Joplin's Big Brother and the Holding Co. alongside Joplin's original band members on the Summer of Love 40th Anniversary Tour.

“When Richardson pours her magnificent, flexible voice into one of Joplin's signature numbers,” says the San Francisco Chronicle, “the experience is more real than any live recording ever captured.”

Grammy nominee and four-time DIY Music Award winner Cathy Richardson has been called “the best female voice in rock today.” She has published no fewer than seven official releases with her universally loved group, the Cathy Richardson Band, the earliest record going back to 1993's “Moon, Not Banana.” Another project for which she sings, the Macrodots, has been steadily adding to their loyal fan base since their 2010 LP, “The Other Side.” The Macrodots' sophomore LP is expected to drop in coming months, also.

Michael Allison of the Global Muse calls Cathy Richardson “one of the most interesting and inspirational singer/songwriters that I've heard. This music is simply amazing and as off the wall and unpredictable as anything I could imagine.”

Richardson's new “What I Am” single has been turning the heads of audiophiles in every music genre since its appearance on 2 November worldwide. For this capital release Richardson signed to the popular Australian independent label, Chance MUSIC, which is rapidly gaining prominence at home and around the world.

Commenting on the themes of her new “What I Am” track, Richardson writes, “Like anyone, I struggle with insecurities, that push and pull of confidence and self doubt. Whether onstage or in daily life, for me, it's really about not being afraid to shine my brightest and own my awesomeness.”

The idea isn't about self-aggrandizement, however. Richardson's goal for her music is to make life warmer for everyone, everywhere.

“When you step into your greatness,” she says, “you elevate the vibration of the world around you. You literally make the world a better place. That's the message I would most like to instill in my kids, and when I hear them singing along to every word – and they don't even know what some of the words mean, yet – it brings a tear to my eye. In my dreams, people across the world are singing 'What I Am' as a love song to themselves.”

“What I Am” by Cathy Richardson from Chance MUSIC is available online worldwide. Get in early, music fans. Be sure also not to miss the official music video (link provided below).

2R3D releases new electronic dance single “Escape” feat. Collin Morgenstern

The composer and producer of digital dance music known as 2R3D has released his new single, “Escape.” The track has been published as an independent release without the support or direction of the corporate music industry. In addition to the already considerable skills of 2R3D himself, “Escape” features the talents of Collin Morgenstern. Part ambient, part trance, part dance pop and with still more elements of electronica and EDM sewn into it, “Escape” is easily one of the most creative and unique singles to arrive for the winter 2015 season.

2R3D's “Escape” has been billed under various music genres, mainly indie dance and the relatively fresh nu disco category, but it will appeal to a much larger variety of music fans than only these. The track weighs in at a cool 90 bpm, less than 20 fewer than the average EDM single sold on Beatport, making it a relaxing single with an upbeat edge that manages to be surprisingly danceable in spite of its mellowness.

Nevertheless, many audiophiles are sure to appreciate 2R3D's “Escape” for its fascinating scope in terms of sonic texture and depth of tone. True to the artist's name, “Escape” is very three-dimensional and can be as immersive as the listener prefers to enjoy it. On the surface, excellently executed and innovative vocals are more than enough to hold one's attention for the duration of the single, but should one choose to listen beneath these, there are also waves, undercurrents and still subtler sounds moving down there, and these, too, can take the listener to seemingly countless faraway places, making the song's title likewise very apt.

2R3D was born and raised in Colorado. At 18 years old he is already a performing DJ of electronica and digital music with live shows at more than 20 venues under his belt, a number to which he is steadily adding. An avid student of music and sound, 2R3D is currently attending the Art of Audio recording school in Denver, CO, where he will graduate with degrees in electronic music production, music business, and audio engineering.

“Escape” by 2R3D feat. Collin Morgenstern is available online worldwide. Fans of nu disco, indie dance and electronic music shouldn't miss it.

Nivelosky releases new dance single 'Suelta'

The singer and songwriter of dance and reggaeton music known internationally as Nivelosky has released his latest single, “Suelta.” The track has been proudly published on the Direct Supply Records independent music label. Upbeat, pulsing, full of ritmo Latino and Caribbean soul, “Suelta” is a dance track picking up speed in North, South and Central American nightclubs and beyond.

Nivelosky (often simply billed as Nivel) cites as main artistic influences fellow Puerto Rican reggaeton musicians such as Daddy Yankee and Yandle, as well as puertorriqueño rappers including popular Miami-born performer Pit Bull. Nivelosky's own sound takes some of the most effective traits of music by these artists and uses them to make the new, fresh style for which he has become known.

Asked to comment on the overall themes of his “Suelta” single, Nivel says that the idea is to “party, dance, to have good times and to let loose.” 'Suelta' means to let loose.

“Suelta” is not the first official release from Nivelosky to achieve global distribution. It is preceded by his seasonal reggaeton single, “A Reggaeton Christmas,” which appeared on Direct Supply Records' “That Time of Year” EP in 2013. His most prominent work before that was as a featured artist on Skee-lo's Grammy-nominated “Club Song” single one year earlier.

Nivelosky's “Suelta” is the first taste of the singer's upcoming album which will include it. Nivel's label, Direct Supply Records, calls it “full of well-articulated, fun, beat-driven Latin soul music that will leave you sweating and wanting more.” Nivel's manager at DSR says of him, “This guy is busting at the seams with talent and works hard at his craft, so it's just a matter of time before the world becomes aware.”

Nivelosky comments, “This is just the beginning I have so much more music, videos to present, and with the support I have, the sky is the limit!”

“Suelta” from Nivelosky on Direct Supply Records is available online worldwide. Be sure not to miss the song's official music video, due out soon.

Guitarist Stephen Lantz releases new single 'Rockin' at the Cabin'

The guitarist and songwriter known as Stephen Lantz has released his latest instrumental single, “Rockin' at the Cabin.” The track is the third single release from Lantz in 2015, preceded by his “High Sonority” and “Chasin' the Sunbeams” tracks which appeared on digital music shelves around the world in April. Like his previous releases, “Rockin' at the Cabin” has been proudly published as an independent single without the influence of the corporate music industry. With a groove that rolls like the ocean and power that builds like a tide, “Rockin' at the Cabin” showcases Stephen Lantz as one of the indie music scene's most expert guitarists and intuitive songwriters.

Music by Stephen Lantz tends toward the true classic-rock sound, though “Rockin' at the Cabin” has elements of alt- rock songwriting as well, making it somewhat akin to the early acoustic songs of Pearl Jam. Rooted in the active, vibrant acoustic guitar playing which has made Lantz's single tracks stand out in a scene populated by synthetic instrumentation, Lantz's songs have that unmistakably American tone which recalls the influence of country, folk and bluegrass on the classic rock of the '60s and '70s.

Lantz has variously cited as artistic inspirations Peter, Paul and Mary, Pete Seeger, Cream, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, the Eagles, Front Range, Hot Rize, Lester Flatt, Merle Haggard and Jerry Jeff Walker. These influences can be heard in every aspect of his music. “Rockin' at the Cabin” has the same warmth and natural feel of the Eagles, the casual aggression of the Rolling Stones, and the unpretentious beauty of Peter, Paul and Mary.

“Rockin' at the Cabin” is a highly narrative piece of instrumental rock. Listening to it is an easygoing, yet upbeat jog through a sonic landscape that is almost palpable. Strident guitar notes dance like eddies of wind in trees. The music fan almost smells pine. Were the song's title not suggestive of the forest, its exceptionally American character would still evoke images of grass in sunshine, wildlife at a full run, and other earthy, Midwestern vignettes.

Speaking of the themes of his new single, Lantz writes: “My long and very close friends own a cabin in the Colorado mountains. In our younger, post-college days we were in a band together and had a blast playing all kinds of gigs. My wife and I were visiting our friends at the cabin recently and we were jammin' when the rhythm guitar part for this new song just popped into my head. When I got home, I recorded it.”

A humble music artist though one of the highest caliber, Lantz insists that his songs aren't attempts at fortune and glory.

“As always,” he writes, “my goal in recording and releasing music is simply to offer musical enjoyment to the world.”

“Rockin' at the Cabin” by Stephen Lantz is available online worldwide. Get your share of musical enjoyment now.

Rapper Ty$on releases new LP 'Young & Reckless, Vol. 2'

The rapper and songwriter of hip hop known as Ty$on has released his newest LP album, “Young & Reckless, Vol. 2.” The full-length album contains 10 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 35 minutes. It has been proudly published on the Boogie Boards Productions independent record label without the influence of the corporate music industry. Innovative, yet coming from the true roots of the best old-school hip hop from both coasts and the dirty south, “Young & Reckless, Vol. 2” is a rap record with unstoppable back beats and hip hop for everyone.

Ty$on cites as main musical influences Lil' Wayne, Curren$y, UNLV, Juvenile, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, and Tupac Shakur. His own music takes the best elements of each of these, but it is Ty$on's inimitable knack for writing lines and delivering them with an almost physical punch that makes “Young & Reckless, Vol. 2” a rock-solid hip-hop album.

That Ty$on considers UNLV (Tec-9, Lil Ya and Yella Boy) a chief music inspiration comes as little surprise as the “Young & Reckless” rapper is himself from New Orleans, LA. Having relocated to Savannah, GA in the wake of the Hurricane Katrina Disaster, Ty$on began writing and polishing the music which would one day become his “Young & Reckless” series of hip-hop records.

Fortunately for the hip-hop underground and rap fans everywhere, Ty$on returned to New Orleans years later, dropping two official mixtapes without wasting any time. He soon partnered up with friend and rapper Rico (who appears on two tracks on “Young & Reckless, Vol. 2”) and named their collaboration Da Winners.

In addition to the considerable talents of Ty$on and Rico on “Young & Reckless, Vol. 2,” the LP also boasts the skills of such artists as AK, Noon Orleanz, Smooth, Marley tha Skywalker, and DJ Ace Boogie Nola (producer/engineer), and still others.

Young & Reckless, Vol. 2” from Ty$on is available online worldwide from Boogie Boards Productions. Here's hoping Vol. 3 is right around the corner.

Pianist Atelier-M releases debut instrumental LP 'Season'

The pianist and composer of instrumental music known as Atelier-M has released his debut full-length record, “Season.” The LP is composed of 12 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 50 minutes. Calming, soothing, intuitive, contemplative and beautiful in its simplicity, “Season” showcases Atelier-M as one of the world's most accessible and creative composers of piano music today.

Atelier-M cites as his main artistic influences Ryuichi Sakamoto, Astor Piazzolla, “and other French, Italian and Spanish musicians.”

His “Season” is actually a repertoire of compositions written to suit the months of the year, each being appropriately named for the 30 days it is intended to characterize. Like Vivaldi's “Le quattro stagioni,” these pieces sound and feel like their climatic counterparts, being upbeat and warm, mellow and mild, or introspective and cool to match the respective season. Unlike Vivaldi's “Four Seasons,” however, Atelier-M takes great care in painting sonic portraits of each individual month so that there is a far greater range in his record from track to track, divided as it is in 12 parts, rather than four.

Speaking of his goals for the “Season” LP, Atelier-M writes:

“In this release, I intended to deliver themes/inspirations such as loneliness, the beauty of nature, and relaxation. I intentionally made it old fashioned like '60s or '70s European movie soundtracks, as modern musicians don’t focus on this area much, but I believe there are lots that we can do and develop in this musical area.”

Atelier-M's 2015 year has been dedicated to his “Season” debut LP, but it is far from his first music release. The “Season” LP is preceded by more than 50 single tracks in genres as disparate as easy listening, pop, EDM, avant-garde and progressive.

Largely a studio musician, Atelier-M has not yet performed live, but his music may be heard at private art exhibitions both in Tokyo and outside the city, as well as at venues like the planetarium at Nagano Prefecture in Japan. He has been playing piano since childhood but soon found composition more to his liking. An autodidact in the world of writing music, he continued composing but never recorded these songs until 2005.

“Season” by Atelier-M is available online worldwide.

Electronic music artist Vusive releases new EP 'Soulseeker'

The composer and producer of electronic music known as Vusive has released his new EP record, “Soulseeker.” The EP contains five original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 20 minutes. It has been released on the Ohio-based Grasshopper Juice Records independent music label. Jazzy, classy, stylish and full of groove, “Soulseeker” by Vusive is an electronica soul album that fans of digital music and R 'n' B can all get behind.

Vusive cites as main artistic influences “Hip hop, electronic music, EDM, IDM, indie, jazz, classical,” and proving that he has an open mind, “anything really.” He has also mentioned Flying Lotus, Tokimonsta, Nosaj Thing, Machinedrum, Samiyam, Hudson Mohawke, Onra, and Flume as inspirations in the past.

Vusive's appearance in the independent music underground scene is fairly recent as a producer, having begun digital music production in earnest little more than a year ago. That said, his repertoire is already filling out in short order, as the current EP proves. His knack for clean, precise sound engineering and intuitive songwriting are bringing him (and Grasshopper Juice Records) to prominence both at home in Cincinnati and abroad.

The artist himself has described his sound as “a music project that has stemmed from various backgrounds and influences that has a large focus on improvisation and live instrumentation.”

These backgrounds notably include the classical genre, with which Vusive spent his first years in music. A longtime instrumentalist, Vusive is a violinist with more than 14 years of experience. He is also a musical autodidact, having taught himself to play guitar and drums. With widespread abilities like these, it's no surprise that he is no stranger to the live stage, either.

Vusive describes the creative process of his “Soulseeker” EP as centered around “a dynamic mix of genres ranging from hip hop, jazz, R 'n' B, soul, classical, hardcore/metal, disco, and funk, all induced into an electronic platform that brings a very groovy, and dance-oriented atmosphere.”

“Soulseeker” from Vusive on Grasshopper Juice Records is available online worldwide.

Electronic music duo Second Space release debut single 'Square One'

The powerhouse duo of electro-pop music known as Second Space have released their debut single track, “Square One.” The track has been proudly published as an independent release without the influence of the corporate music industry. Booming and full, pulsing and rhythmic, awash in colorful vocal melodies and techno-style synth chords, “Square One” from Second Space is gigantic fun on dance floors and in headphones alike.

Second Space are audiophiles with a penchant for a broad range of genres, citing anything from rock to dance music as influences, though they note, “We have preferred not to immerse ourselves in other music when going through [the 'Square One'] production process, staying as focused as possible on developing the unique Second Space sound.”

This characteristic sound is indeed unique, and even uniquely so because it is a kind of newness which feels familiar while remaining unpredictable and having a tone unlike earlier music groups. The Second Space style can be described without much difficulty, however, often in terms of sheer volume and sonic size.

“We've always admired quirky acts who can create a big sound or atmosphere,” writes Second Space. “Many of these were ever present on the radio in our childhoods in the '80s and '90s: Depeche Mode, Trevor Horn, St. Etienne, Alex Metric, Chemical Brothers, Pet Shop Boys, Mutt Lange, Per Gessle...”

Fans of some, any or all of the above will find a happy, dynamic environment in the “Square One” single from Second Space. Exceptionally danceable and suitable for casual listening in equal balance, the track will appeal to a wide audience everywhere in the world.

Second Space themselves write:

“Our debut single 'Square One' offers equal measures of heady, mercurial breakbeats and ethereal vocals. Its production is upfront and compliments a bittersweet song for the tech generation – meaningful lyrics to the throwaway thunder of EDM beats about something more than going out at the weekend getting wasted (as seems to be an established trend for electronic artists to write about these days).”

They describe the style of their single as something new arriving from old-school points of origin.

“The song itself is fairly explanatory with a psychoanalytic, introspective theme, which, universally, we think people can relate to in one way or another. Our intention is to innovate but despite this, you can expect no sonic destruction or avant-garde soundscapes.”

Second Space are vocalist Alison Hilary and producer Oliver Lord from Chester, UK. After achieving moderate success ghost-writing music for big-name DJs, Lord left the scene, unimpressed with what he termed its “formulaic structures,” inspired to produce music with which he was truly satisfied.

“Meeting and writing with Alison was the eureka moment,” their official bio states, “both encouraging each other to throw away the rule book and make something they wanted to hear that inspired them to do what they do best – creating the unique Second Space sound … Initially the intention was to write for established artists, but realising their sound was unique and no session singers could emulate Alison's vocals, they had no choice but to start a band.”

Second Space are currently at work devising a live show and preparing for the release of their new EP, due to drop this coming winter.

“Square One” from Second Space is available online worldwide. Get in early, electronica fans. Very early.

Modern folk artist Greg Charles releases single 'Repulsion Days'

The singer and songwriter of contemporary folk music known as Greg Charles has released his latest single, “Repulsion Days.” The track is being concurrently dropped with two B-side tracks, “For All I Know” and “Drug Taken Girlfriend.” These and their flagship single, “Repulsion Days,” are being proudly published on the Octive Resin independent music label without the influence of the corporate music industry.

Sonorous, heartfelt, natural and indicative of the zeitgeist of today's folk-music revival, “Repulsion Days” from Greg Charles stands as proof that folk fans have much to look forward to in this indie folk musician from Australia.

Queensland-born Greg Charles cites as main artistic influences Picasso, Jay-Z, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Nabokov, Jodorowsky, Gareth Liddiard (The Drones), Built to Spill, Townes Van Zandt, Soulwax, and East River Pipe. From this eclectic potpourri of art forms and styles comes the inspiration for a highly textured sound that is all Greg Charles.

Music by Charles tends toward the introspective and emotionally evocative. His guitar work is subtly ingenious without sounding the least bit pretentious. His singing comes from his heart and takes the tone of a raw talent as it emerges from him with carefully crafted words.

Asked to describe the themes of his new single, Charles writes, “'Repulsion Days' is a meditation on the emotion called disgust, disgust being a response to everything that you are receiving through your senses in modern-day society. So it talks about psychologists, men, women, children, all of the roles that people play in society. The end result of experiencing all of these games people play is a general feeling of disgust and repulsion. Repulsion Days.”

“Repulsion Days” was written in a single night at a friend's house and recorded the following day at the Lounge Room with engineer Todd Dixon in 2009. And the B-side songs?

“'For All I Know' is a pop song,” writes Charles. “It’s full of melodies and is in drop-C tuning. It’s about learning how to tolerate somebody who is trying to ride your coattails.”

These single tracks are far from Greg Charles' first foray as a published musician. They are preceded by “Attack the Day” (independent – 2003), three records as Charles Curse: “InSilver Scene” (MusicYourMindWillLoveYou – 2005), “Rain In Skull” (MusicYourMindWillLoveYou – 2006) and “STOMAC” (WeHaveNoZen – 2011), as well as a vinyl re-release of “Rain In Skull” from Olde English Spelling Bee out of Brooklyn, NYC in 2009.

Greg Charles lives and makes music now in Burleigh Heads, Queensland, Australia, and has re-emerged with a brand-new perspective on creating and music. He is currently writing a new record, playing shows in Burleigh Heads and Brisbane, and plotting a new phase of creative output.

Asked for a comment for his fans, Charles says simply, “I'm ready.”

“Repulsion Days” from Greg Charles is available online worldwide beginning 23 November 2015.
